Evaluating Data
Moving data from Palm to PC
Once you have finished collecting field data and records are moved from the handheld computer to your personal computer by the synchronization process you can view them with the Vetting Program.
- HotSync to transfer your data record from Palm to PC
- Connect your handheld to your computer using the serial cable.
- Select [Local]
- Select [Direct Handheld] from the drop down menu below the HotSync icon.
- Tap the HotSync icon to begin synchronization
- Open the Vital Signs Vetting Program from your desktop
- The Vetting Program retrieves data records stored in C:\Palm\VitalSignsData

NOTE: You do not need to be connected to the Internet for this program to operate properly.
Using the vetting program

In the upper left-hand corner, choose Show [New] Records in the drop down menu
NOTE: This drop down menu allows you to show [Uploaded] and [Deleted] files as well

Data record summaries from the C:\Palm folder appear in the top portion of the data table
NOTE: Data records lacking a position are not complete and will not be listed in the table

Select a record: click on the record you want to view
The detailed data appear in the lower portion of the data table
Notes associated with the data record appear in the [Observations] section at the bottom left, and the image appears in the bottom right
- Edit observations if necessary (click and type) then click [Save Observations] when satisfied with your notes
- The image associated with the data record appears in the lower right-hand corner and can be rotated by clicking [Rotate] as many times as necessary
Deleting an incomplete or suspect record

Click the checkbox to the left of the Device ID (top VS Records table) to select the record you wish to delete
NOTE: Put a check next to all of the records you wish to delete
- Click [Delete Selected Records]
Uploading complete records to the Interactive Mapping Website

Click the checkbox to the left of the Device ID (top VS Records table) to select the record you wish to upload
NOTE: Put a check next to all of the records you wish to delete
- Click [Upload Selected Records]
When you close out of the Vital Signs vetting program, notice a new file called "VitalSignsStandalone.dcr" on your desktop. This indicates that the Vetting Program is correctly installed on your computer. Do NOT delete this file.
