Sorry, we still have had no communication from Belize. The Roadrunner business email is still down, evidently due to a major system problem. As of this morning, they were waiting to hear from the parent company in California. Meanwhile, keep sending mail directly to glover@btl.net.

If any family or friends have heard from anyone, and if you'd like to share any news with us on the web site, please pass it on to Justine's home email. Thanks!

We have not received any new images or data for two days, since Jacque's posting on the message board (see copy of it below under Monday). We missed a call from Jake to the aquarium office, but no other word. We also still do not have regular email: no word yet on when it will be operational again, so email from links from the pages in the site won't be sent until the email is fixed. In the meantime, try to send email direct to the crew at glover@btl.net, putting the name of the person you are writing to in the subject line. We have also been sending email there (using personal email, since aquarium email is down), but have not received any response yet. Just as soon as we get ANYthing, though, it will be here first!

From the Webmaster, 10:45 EST

We've received some pictures via FTP! We'll add them right here. No word from them, however: The beach at Glovers our email system crashed last night: it's evidently a system-wide problem in the Portland area with RoadRunner. If you've sent email, it should be delivered as soon as the system is back up and running. Meanwhile, you can always post to the message board!
Or try emailing directly to their account there: Glover. This is the general email there, so put the name of who your email it to in the subject line.

These are a few of the first images received: more will be added shortly to the photo gallery! (Click the image to get a full size view.)

Posted on the message board!

Hello,
This is Jacque from Belize. Everyone made it safely to Middle Cay and we have begun a series of reef studies. We are experiencing some technical difficulty in transmitting live from the island. The winds and the sea play havoc with our phone line. But we will keep trying. Meanwhile we hope to hear from all our friends in cyberspace. So we're at Glovers. We're working on getting pictures for you. We've taken a lot already: stills and video, but our internet connection is quite unreliable. The Glovers computer in the lab is connected through Belize City at 2400, but it's the only way to connect, so we'll have to make the most of it. The line is also interupted often, making it difficult to transmit anything!

On the brighter side, we're at Middle Caye!!! We did it! Half of us took a flight to Dangriga then hopped on a skiff for the atoll. The rest of us took the "meddy bemps" to the island. It's a Maine style lobster boat in Belize! It took four hours but was a beautiful trip. Even saw a few flying fish!

The weather's beautiful! We dove this morning and got lots of great pictures!
