From Alan Nelson: Paradise was pretty prosaic today. When the processing of files is the major intellectual challenge of the day, one dreams up alliterative statements like that.

From Alan Nelson: Keeping track of time, and especially days of the week, always seems to be harder away from home. It gets especially difficult around here because any time we are in direct contact (via phone or email) with the continental states, we are on two different days by virtue of being on opposite sides of the international date line. Labor Day weekend turned that all around however.

From Alan Nelson: I now have all the available Kwajalein radiosonde flight data from the last month reprocessed so that there really is temperature data rather than range data in the temperature column!

From Alan Nelson: Turns out that the translation from raw data files to summary data files is not a simple translation. Apparently the raw data files are storing everything that is coming back from the sonde and the up to 30 calibration values that are unique to each sonde.

From Alan Nelson: I now have a task assigned to me for the next several days. It is not an exciting one but it will fill a need that must be met.

From Alan Nelson: I will be leaving in less than 10 days. George left yesterday to go back to our office. This is really the first time that I have thought about this experience coming to an end.

From George Huffman: As if to compensate for my departure, events conspired to pack a lot into the day. It actually began last night. From Alan Nelson: Here's a picture of George Huffman who has also been sending back daily journal entries. I have found it interesting to compare our two journals. They are pretty easy to tell apart--mine have pictures and his don't!
