From George Huffman:
This time the Continental Micronesia Airlines flight made it in just fine. I went to the airport to greet Brad (and a couple of other replacements that I know).

From Alan Nelson:
I finished the proposal last night. I was up until 3 AM and tried to contact a couple people back home, but didn't connect.

From George Huffman:
I suppose it tells you something about my day when I say that the high point was driving a step van. Hmm, "driving" is too strong a word. "Herding" is probably better.

From Alan Nelson:
After the catamaran left last night leaving the 8 or 9 of us on the island, I went scrounging for a place to work on my proposal. Finally, in the fire hall I found a desk with a straight back chair.

From George Huffman:
This was one long day. I went with Tom Kalasky of the Project Office to meet the LCU Manassas at 2:30 a.m.. on its return from Lae Island. The trip back was pretty rough...

From Alan Nelson:
Today's pictures are all about the sun. This view of the sunrise was from the middle of the lagoon as I was riding the catamaran ferry from Kwajalein to Meck.

08-30-99

From George Huffman:
Today's forecast and flight decision weren't merely wrong, they had a train wreck.

From Alan Nelson:
Today wasn't a picture-taking day. I have been saving this picture just in case that happened. While biking on the island one afternoon last week, I saw these women walking down the street in identical, native Marshallese outfits...

08-29-99

From George Huffman:
The satellite phone at the TRMM site on Woja Island was half-fixed today. I could call in, but they couldn't call out. So, I once again called the service provider in New York City and tried to move toward a solution.

From Alan Nelson:
(Revised text:) I made it on the boat this morning! Here is the view looking back to the island of Meck. The tethersonde is hanging over the right side of the island.

08-28-99

From George Huffman:
Today I played hooky a little bit. To be fair, it was a really important thing to do from a management perspective.

From Alan Nelson:
[*Pictures are now in!!] Here is the antenna that tracks radiosondes released from the island of Meck. We've been having trouble getting all the pieces to work at the same time!

08-27-99

From George Huffman:
Once again today, I found myself saying, "Here I am in the middle of the Pacific and I find myself ..." Today, "..." was "grocery shopping."

From Alan Nelson:
I had promised you a better picture of the DC-8 airplane. Here it is. The little hill behind the airplane, where the antenna is sitting, is "Mt. Olympus" the highest point on the island.
