From George Huffman: Oops, another shift in my alleged schedule. For the next 10 days or so the TRMM satellite will be passing over the Kwaj area in the morning. From Alan Nelson: Hurricane Dora did indeed impact our flight today. Johnston Island was evacuated due to Dora and so was not available as a refueling stop.

From George Huffman: The LCU (Landing Craft, Utility) is built for work, not show. The pilot house is on the starboard side... From Alan Nelson: Finally got some snorkeling in today. The weather forecasts had all been for a rainy day...

From George Huffman: Today I had doused all my administrative fires by 3 p.m., so I managed to get to the pool for the first time since I arrived. It's a pretty neat concept – they just fill it with filtered sea water. From Alan Nelson: While driving over to the west side of the island today, I was pondering on how the description "lush green vegetation" doesn't really do justice to all the plants that surrounded me.

From George Huffman: The forecast today was pretty upbeat. Totally boring, sunny weather was expected for today (and it occurred), but a mid-latitude system is expected to move south, with the potential for excitement at the time of a TRMM overpass tomorrow. From Alan Nelson: Here is a picture of my first Hawaii sunrise. Sunrises and sunsets just seem to be prettier in the Pacific.

From George Huffman: A uniformed policeman went by on a bicycle as I exited the Pacific Café after lunch. I'm still not quite used to such a sight, so I watched him turn the corner.
