From Alan Nelson: We await the reawakening of the volcano. And the wait continues. Actually, our wait is probably done. Only if we find out early in the morning that the volcano is erupting would we be able to catch a helicopter over to the other side of the island.

From Alan Nelson: We await the reawakening of the volcano. And the wait continues. We stopped at the park to get the latest story. According to the volcanologists, the earthquakes that started at 1 AM on the 12th did indeed expand some of the underground chambers.

From Alan Nelson: This was a day sights and hikes in lush green vegetation and beautiful coastlines. Here is a bit of both! Taken along a 4-mile "scenic drive" but this particular vista was unlabeled.

From Alan Nelson: The volcano began the current eruption in 1983. On the 12th, a series of earthquakes signalled a "pause" in the current eruption. So today there is no lava flowing. Anywhere. Bummer.

From Alan Nelson: The last day. Washed clothes. Packed suitcases. Turned in data sheets. Tried to meet with Brad to explain what I had done but we were on opposite sides of the runway...

From Alan Nelson: I got a good night's sleep and my solo went well. I don't particularly like singing solos.

From Alan Nelson: This was my last chance to get back to the island of Meck before I have to leave. I felt a little guilty leaving some files unprocessed back at the Ops Center, but I will have to do them tomorrow.

From Alan Nelson: I didn't have access to the computer with my files and software for the whole day today and so I didn't finish the processing. I did get all the files that I had done the last couple days copied into the archive, so those are tucked away "for good".
