Alan Nelson's Daily Commentary for 3 September 1999
Kwajalein Island, Republic of Marshall Islands
Here's a picture of George Huffman who has also been sending back daily
journal entries. I have found it interesting to compare our two journals.
They are pretty easy to tell apart--mine have pictures and his don't!
George and I share an office back at Goddard. I appreciated having him
around and I will miss having him here. But that means he's headed home.
I don't get to see any of my family for another 10 days. (The paper that
George is holding is the Bowie, MD Blade. Apparently if you send the Blade
a picture from an exotic place with the Blade in the picture they will
publish it. George and I figure that Kwajalein is an exotic place. I just
figured I would scoop the Blade by publishing it on the internet!! If the
Blade wants this really fast, then George's wife Kim will have to tell me
where to send the file.)
The lack of sleep, the ongoing sinus infection that I've been treating with
antibiotics and all that swimming yesterday finally caught up to me. I sat
down last night to read my book at 7:30. I read two pages and fell asleep
for two hours. I got up, brushed my teeth and slept for another 14 hours.
Amazingly, my sinuses feel better today!
So if you are interested in what my day was like, just close your eyes and
look at the inside of YOUR eyelids!
